Innes England’s East Midlands Market Insite report 2023

Here at Innes England, we’ve been collating the data for our popular annual Market Insite event that shines a light on the current market and what the sector can expect in 2023.

Our in-depth report gives an overview of the major deals last year across the East Midlands and assesses the emerging trends.

The Innes England Market Insite 2023 report will be published shortly after a special webinar – to be held online for the third year running – with an audience of hundreds of industry professionals and including a live Q&A on Wednesday 8 February.

The report will examine the latest developments, property trends and opportunities presented during a successful period across sectors including office, industrial, retail and investment markets. For the first time, it will include Birmingham-wide investment data, reflecting our expansion to the city in 2022.

Last year’s Market Insite report revealed that investment in the East Midlands’ commercial real estate sector smashed to a record-breaking level of £2.29 billion in 2021, almost double that of the previous year and 71% above the five-year average, with the industrial market leading the way.

We are really looking forward to unveiling similar insightful results when the latest report is finalised for the event’s 16th year.

The East Midlands had another strong year in 2022, particularly in the first three quarters, although the final quarter experienced disturbance with the revolving door at No 10 and the infamous Budget speech.

A number of significant deals took place across the East Midlands throughout the year, including the retail market, which proved to be more resilient in the East Midlands than most regions.

Our Market Insite event will once again look behind the numbers and analyse the trends we have seen over the last five years. We’ll also be looking at the Midlands as a whole, through the viewpoint of our new Birmingham office and the work our investment team has been doing.

In a new move, specially filmed interviews with the senior team on location in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Birmingham will feature in this year’s webinar. The team will also take part in the follow-up Q&A on the day, alongside director and head of Birmingham Adam Rock.

Speakers include directors Peter Doleman discussing industrial and distribution trends, Ben Robinson analysing investment, Craig Straw overseeing the office sector and I will be discussing roadside and retail.

We’re excited to be once again hosting this essential date in the diary for those in the commercial property sector.
