A brief history

Local Expertise. National Reach.

The Commercial Property Network (The CPN) is the UK’s largest connected network of independent commercial property firms, bringing together more than 33 firms and 65 offices across the country. Established in 1964, the network was created to provide clients with the benefits of trusted local expertise combined with the strength and reach of a national organisation. More than 60 years later, that principle remains at the heart of everything we do.

Today, The CPN represents a powerful collaboration of privately owned commercial property consultancies working together to deliver expert advice across all sectors of the market. From agency, investment and valuation to property management, building consultancy and specialist advisory services, our network enables clients to access experienced professionals who understand their local markets while benefiting from nationwide coverage and shared expertise.

What makes The CPN different is the strength of collaboration between our member firms. We are not a franchise or corporate chain — we are a collective of independent businesses that actively work together, sharing knowledge, opportunities and specialist insight to provide the highest standards of service for clients across the UK. This collaborative approach allows us to support everything from single-property instructions to complex national portfolios, all while maintaining the personal relationships and regional understanding that independent firms are known for.

A Network Built on Relationships

Commercial property is ultimately a people business, and relationships have always been central to The CPN. Over the decades, the network has evolved into a trusted community of professionals with expertise spanning every aspect of commercial real estate. Whether advising occupiers, investors, developers or landlords, our member firms combine deep sector knowledge with practical local insight to help clients make informed property decisions.

The network continues to grow and evolve, embracing new technologies, changing market trends and emerging sectors while remaining grounded in the values that have shaped The CPN since its formation: professionalism, collaboration and trusted advice.

In his role as CEO, Fergus continues to oversee the strategic growth and development of the organisation as it enters its next phase.
